Frequently Asked Questions

Does ADT require a contract?

Yes, ADT requires a contract to sign up, which usually lasts about three years. In some states like California contracts with ADT are two years in length.

What do I do if my ADT alarm keeps going off?

If your ADT alarm keeps going off without reason, there are a few things to do. First of all, you need to reset your system, main panel, and the router. It’s possible that the security panel isn’t connected well to all the sensors in your home. This can cause malfunctions when it comes to alerts both on your phone and in your house.

Does ADT work if WiFi goes out?

ADT only requires WiFi to work if you pay for advanced packages and use a smart home hub - which requires a strong internet connection over WiFi for remote access from the app. If you’re on a basic ADT package, your home will still be protected - even without internet access - because systems with cellular backup still work during outages.
